How it began

Cotton Clara was founded by Chloe Hardisty in November 2014 and she made the decision to work full-time on the business from September 2017 onwards. Chloe lives in Loughborough with her husband and two young boys. Starting Cotton Clara was driven by her desire to redesign her career so that it worked around spending time with her children.

Chloe originally studied Textile Design at Loughborough University and has always had a love for pattern, colour and traditional embroidery techniques.

As well as producing colourful handmade interior products, she loves to create modern DIY embroidery kits that are accessible to those less confident crafters.

I love creating new products and responding to interiors trends, I would love for my products to be at home in Hobbycraft and Heals!

A variety of techniques are used to create Cotton Clara products. Designs are laser cut into wood and acrylic which you can then stitch at home or order pre-stitched and ready to hang in your home. These range in size from tiny wooden banners to large A2 sized art pieces to mount on your wall or picture ledge. Many products feature positive slogans and phrases, so that not only does the colour make you smile, but so do the words.

You can request a custom order through our contact page.

As well as designing products for your home, Chloe writes craft tutorials and articles for Mollie Makes and Reloved magazines. Please check out the press page to see what we've been involved in recently. Chloe enjoys up-cycling and regularly trawls charity shops for special pieces to give a new lease of life. Make sure you keep up to date with our DIY page to see what she's been up to!

I love to blog about the challenges and the exciting journey that is starting a small creative business, and try to be as honest as possible in my posts to encourage other people to follow their dreams too.
